In most Greek restaurants the rota lives in three places: an Excel file, a photo in the team’s group chat and a phone call to the accountant at the end of the month. None of them talks to ΕΡΓΑΝΗ. OctoShift puts them in one place.
The idea
Since March 2025 every restaurant, café and bar in Greece has had to use a digital work card: each clock-in and clock-out reported to ΕΡΓΑΝΗ, the Ministry of Labour’s system, within fifteen minutes, with fines per employee when it goes wrong. Most venues still plan the week in a spreadsheet.
OctoShift is the software for that week. The manager builds the schedule with the mouse and sees what it costs, the team gets it on their phones, and the work card is designed so that every punch reaches ΕΡΓΑΝΗ on its own. noloop designed and is building all of it: the app, the API, the marketing site and the admin panel.
One week, built in minutes
The schedule is the heart of the product, so it got the most care.

Build the week
Shifts by person or by position, dragged into place, with days off and departments. A good week can be copied or saved as a template for the next one.

Rules checked before you publish
The schedule checks Greek labour rules as you type. A shift that leaves someone without eleven hours of rest is stopped before the week goes out.

The team sees their week
Publishing notifies only the people whose shifts changed, each in their own language. Employees open “My week” and see their shifts and who else works the same day, never anyone’s wages.

The whole team in one list
People, positions, departments and pay, with invitations by email or link. One account follows a person across every venue they work for.
The cost of the week, before it starts
On a laptop the whole venue fits on one screen. Under the grid sit the hours and the labour cost of every day, updated as shifts move, so the owner knows what the week costs before it is published.

From the punch to ΕΡΓΑΝΗ
15′
Fifteen minutes is all the law allows. The work card sends each punch in the background, with its original time, to the second.
Decisions we made
- Nobody edits a punch
- Greek rules forbid the employer from completing or correcting a clock-in, so the product never offers it. A missing clock-out sends the employee a reminder instead.
- Location checked, never stored
- The work card checks that the phone is inside the venue and throws the location away at once. It never keeps where anyone was.
- Double bookings blocked by the database
- PostgreSQL constraints make overlapping shifts for the same person impossible, not just unlikely.
- One account for life
- A waiter who works in two places has one login with two memberships, and every notification arrives in their own language.
- Ready for a mobile app
- A token API mirrors the app, with idempotency keys on every write, so a native app can follow without touching the backend.
- Built in the open
- A hundred logged product decisions, an automated test suite on every push and a public status page from before launch.
The site that sells it
The marketing site is server-rendered for speed and drawn entirely in code, with no stock photos: a live schedule fills itself on the home page, a punch travels to ΕΡΓΑΝΗ, and the octopus blinks. Every page exists in Greek and English, in light and dark.
